Knott's Berry Farm

Ok, Ok, I know that yesterday I mentioned that we wanted to go over to Disney, or more specifically to California Adventure. And that was a really great idea. But Marty didn't plan ahead enough. (Like that is the first time that has happened, sigh)

We called downstairs to find out when the next Disney Shuttle was leaving and ack, cough, gasp, it had already gone and there wasnt another one for two hours. Marty did some marvelous internal brain calculations, some on the spot evaluating of the situation and then hustled Ann out the door and bought the tickets for Knotts Berry Farm. Whew, just in time to have another day of playing the tourist and doing some more sight seeing.

So, here we are at Knotts Berry Farm. The entrance is excellent. There are some really neat Christmas Decorations. Take a look:

And here are a couple more shots of the entrance.

Ok, now here we are on the inside. Ann is doing her usual power shopping. Marty is doing her usual drumming impatiently on whatever is handy.

Then we head on over to camp Snoopy. On the way over we took a minute to take a quick shower under the water tower. Whew, they don't heat the water over here.

Oh, man look at this, Snoopy has been treed on a rock while trying to negotiate the rapids. Well, we dont see any way to rescue him, so we just took pictures. (And no, we don't really notice the sideways pictures, before you ask.)

The first place we drop by in Camp Snoopy is the theater.

As you can see, marty really likes the wall decor.

Then we meet up with Linus, Lucy, Charley Brown and Snoopy. It was a little wierd, at least to me, them having plastic faces that never moved and never changing expression. There was one person in the show out of costume. Maybe that person was supposed to portray adequate expression for all of them.

Even through they were in a show, Lucy had to start a fight with Linus over his blanket.

Now, let's face it, who is the real blockhead?
Linus or the one who torments him?

Here are some of the cast characters with some of the audience that they brought up on stage. It is really tough to get picked. I was standing on the edge of my seat jumping up and down and waving my hand frantically and I still didn't get picked!

I really liked Knotts BerryFarm as a place for kids to go and as a place for kids to really enjoy the park rides.
x
At Disney, I thought that many of the rides were pretty tame and they didn't have something exciting for the smaller, but not quite taller set; if you catch my drift.
x
Here is a training ride for small fry that helps you get ready for the Tower of Terrror. LOL I tried to get better pics, with the kids actually screaming ;) but failed miserably.

And here are a couple of the names of the shops in Camp Snoopy.

Here is a man made cave like atmoshere with caves and water for kids to walk through.

Here is Ann looking around and trying to decide if she wanted to go on the swinging bridges in the area. She decided that she didn't want to .

Next we went to a Wild West Show. We made sure to sit in the Splash Zone. And people went into the area that started the splash several tmes. What made everyone really laugh is that everytime someone went into what I guess can best be described as a splash tank; they came out dry and we got went. It was a lot of good laughs.

The reason that the guy in the middle is sagging (tried to get a pic, doesn't look like I succeeded) was that he owed the two men on the ends money and each time the post commander looked away, the two guys on the end would beat the man in the middle up, and it happened repeatedly. There weren't a lot of high tech type of things happpening. What there was was an old west show and it was pretty good. A different type of day from Disney.

Here's the bad guy.

And here are some more pics of the action:

The next pic was shot as I was trying to protect the camera from the splash effect.

Here are a couple more grin--at least if you don't want to see them you can scroll past them. LOL

After the wild West Show Ann went back to her power shopping and Marty looked around for something else to do.

I found a neat wall saying that I liked. In case you can't read it it says:

Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

Then I looked around some more and found this neat little house made out of bottles.

I went back to the leather shop and made sure that Ann wasn't done and trying to look for me (so much for hopeful thinking; she wasn't). I walked over to this neat place to sit down.

While I was sittinga down resting, I saw some neat carrousel horses in various stages of repair or like this one, being newly carved.

The body carving is great, but I think the man needs to work on the facial expressions a little bit. *snicker

Well, actually the horse scared me a little bit, so I decided to move on to the Saloon. Guess what, thre is a show going on herealso and most of the people from the Old West Show are here too. The pics are a little hard to make out, but here they are anyway.

Here is the policeman, he dropped by to see the show.

He invited all kinds of people to come up to the office and do things with him.

How do you like this guys hat? LOLLOLLOL

Now here are some pics of some people singing Christmas Carols. Later on, we see them in a play by O'Henry called The Gift of the Magi. I really like O'Henry so that was a high point for me.

We walked around and looked at the rides. There was one log ride that we both wasnted to do, but it was a little chilly and not very handcap accessible. The guy kind of wanted me to climb a lot of steps that go both up and down and I don't do that well on a good day.

Here are a couple more rides that we took a look at. Must be tough having to go on them when they aren't up and down right, huh?

After that we went to hear a story about a Native American Storyteller. Here are a couple of things that we saw on our wayb over to the storytellers. The guy playing the piano was really good.

It The Native American Storytelling was neat. They had the guy behind a glass and used some special effects. Because of the glass wall we could see him well and they could use a fire as a part of the storytelling experience. I didn't get any pics of the Storyteller. I didn't want to spoil the mood by using flash.

After we left the show, we decided that we had had enough of Knotts Berry Farm

Here is a pic of the inside of the huge Christmas Tree that is outside of Knotts Berry Farm. Hmm, I guess that you just had to be there. The Christmas Trees that you see in the beginning are actually inside of this tree.

Next we headed across a couple of streets to an IHOP. Ann hadn't been to an IHOP (International House of Pancakes) and wanted to try one. That sounded good to me. I like their eggs and pancakes. And sausage. And bacon. ;)

After this Jacob came and picked us up and took us back to the hotel.

Now, tomorrow we are really going to DisneyLand's California Adventure.
